Not only do you need to repeat drills time and time again, but preparing your body through exercises is vital to becoming an accomplished player.
Cardiovascular/Aerobics at least 3 days per week.
Put on your running shoes and it the road or treadmill for a minimum of 30 minutes. Along with aerobic exercises, such as running for 30 minutes at least 3 days per week, which is aerobic slow twitch, add in one more aerobic activity at least one more day per week. That could be rollerblading, biking, classes, etc.
Now add 2 days per week of fast twitch activity, such as wind sprints, suicides, jump rope, etc. One day per week you could combine these activities by getting involved in a full court basketball game for an hour or two. There are many ways to train the body effectively aerobically and anaerobically. Talk to your coach or trainer for ideas also.
Don’t forget about those weights.
Weights train the muscle groups very well adding quickness and strength to your movements as a player. Add this in 2 days per week. Again, see your coach or trainer for suggestions. You’re probably thinking, this is a lot of training that he’s talking about. Not really, if you care about being the player you want to be.
